I’ve literally been waiting on this day (well, Sunday) for months. It’s finally spring! I know not everyone is feeling it quite yet, but the official calendar marking might at least provide some hope for those still experiencing cooler weather. It’s been warming up in my little corner of the world for a few weeks now, so I’m ready to go!

I started creating “Inspiration Boards” a few years ago – honestly, to help me get ready in the mornings. Sometimes I need that extra nudge of creativity to help pull together a cute outfit. You can build a board similar to the one below. I like to cut out photos of outfits I see in magazines, pull fabric swatches that I love, paint chips, really all things fun and applicable to my lifestyle. I pin them to my board and ta da, there’s my inspiration!

I was looking at it this morning, and you can tell I’ve definitely been excited about spring. It’s full of bright colors, florals and big prints – all beautiful, but it’s getting a little overwhelming. It made me think about the neutral trend that is going to be big this season and realized I should probably invest in some “toned down” looks to get me through. I started searching for some cute looks and wanted to share them with you! I tried to think about outfits I would wear during the day and at night, so I organized them that way. Check them out, they might work for you too!

I love this first outfit! I already have a pair of tan skinnies and my gladiator flats from last spring, so I just need to pick up a loose, sleeveless blouse and a floral bag. See… the perfect way to keep things neutral, but still get in my fun florals!

The second outfit is so chic. I can see this being a go-to date night look. It looks pretty comfortable and could really be dressed up or down, depending on where we are going. I like the black clutch idea too. Adds a nice contrast!

The last look would be great for work, OR even for Easter this weekend! I’m all about a wide leg pant. It’s an easy way to pull off the high-waisted look without them being too restricting. Also, the blush blazer gives me butterflies. I’ll plan to share my obsession with this color in the next few weeks.

Neutrals By Night

Can we please take a moment to recognize Gigi Hadid as one of the ultimate style icons of our generation?! She always looks so put together and it’s no secret that she’s always on the move. Not sure where she was headed here, but I’m loving the white cape. It would definitely be a neutral statement piece. I would most likely save this look for a local movie premier or charity event, where I knew people would be snapping photos. 😉

I actually already have a dress very similar to the one in the middle, but I usually wear it as a simple sundress with flats. I really like the idea of dressing it up with pumps and a cute clutch or crossbody. It’s effortlessly elegant.

And finally, this last look… It’s more like a day to night outfit. I could wear it to work (maybe with the blazer above) and then toss on this leather number for happy hour. I would probably hold on the bright lip and animal print clutch for the office. Save those for after hours! I might try and recreate this look on Friday. I have a friend’s b-day dinner right after work.

And the last thought of the day… where do you find looks like these? I always find what I need at Tanger Outlets – stores like H&M, Forever21 and Banana Republic. Luckily, you can find really great neutral pieces in stores year round, so just start picking them up as you see them and you’ll eventually have a perfectly polished neutral collection to pick from when styling your looks.

I’m off to see if I can find more neutral inspiration. Comment below with any looks you stumble upon and we can swap ideas.

Bye, guys!
